outpouring of quotes...

i have so many i need to share...i hope one is what you are needing in your life right now:

-"If you judge people, you have no time to love them." - Mother Teresa

-"When I was 5 years old my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and i told them they didn't understand life." - John Lennon

"Sitting next to you doing absolutely nothing means absolutely everything to me." - Anonymous

"Everday is an opportunity to be creative.
The cavas is your mind,
The brushes & colours are you thoughts and feelings,
The panorama is your story,
The complete pictures is a work of art called 'My Life',
Be careful what you put on the canvas of your mind today,
IT MATTERS" - Anonymous

"Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule" - Buddha

"To live a creative life we must loose our fear of being wrong." - Joseph Chilton Pearce

"To be nobody but yourself in a world thats doing its best to make you somebody else is to fight the hardest battle you are ever going to fight. Never stop fighting." - E.E. Cummings

"The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet." - James Appenheim

that is all for this evening! i hope you all had a Merry Christmas. someday i will get time to post pictures. i am so excited to share with you what i got!
p.s. it is a freakin blizzard outside.. time to curl in a ball, cry, and guage my eyes out... that doesn't sound depressing at all.

life these days...

most people know i am not a fan of winter. but sometime last week i woke up to a winter wonderland. snow can be a very beautiful thing. this particular morning it was. it was that really fluffly snow that sticks to the trees. snow covering trees = beauty. snow cover streets = panic attacks. as you can see from the pictures below it was a snow that covered the trees but left the streets in good condition, i had to snap some pics on my way to work, it was to hard to resist:
this last week we had Mia while my brother and the rest of his family went to Hawaii (not fair). i totally tried talking my little nephew into taking his place but he wouldn't go for it. crazy huh? someday i will go.. someday i will go... (i just have to keep telling my self that).
she was so precious. i miss coming home from work and having the little girl come running up to me smiling, welcoming me home.
(me & mia enjoying some Tigger Movie...she totally has my bottom lip ;))
i apologize for my lack of blogging. i could go on and on with excuse but don't we all not have enough time this time of year?
instead i will update you on life which is pretty much the same thing:
work is busy. busy, busy, busy. there have been some changes which give me a lot more work to do. it does make the days go by faster. yay!
i have had christmas parties galor. i have a nature to plan things so i usually end up being the planner for most of them. i had a friend, work, and church one to plan this year. they are all over and were a succesful hit. phew!
i have also come to the conclusion that i am a hoarder. maybe just like 1/4 hoarder. don't think i am crazy. at least i admit unlike all you unadmiters out there. i have recently moved into a new living space and i have so much crap. i hoard. but i am improving and throwing a lot of unnecessaries away. thank you!
i will post pictures of the new space shortly. i need to make a trip to Ikea asap to get some additional furniture and it will not be complete until that is done. i am excited to show ya!
i hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and do not forget the reason we celebrate this time of year: the birth of our Lord & Savior.
oh, and just in case: Happy New Year!

i am absolutely loving Joshua Radin's new album. i can't get enough of it. you gotta check it out!

my near death experience...

ok not really...
but we can pretend.
so Saturday evening about 8ish i am sitting home alone in my room watching Hawaii 5.0. (new favorite show)
all of a sudden i hear all thes loud banging noises
freaked out
i paused my show and just sat there. i literally had nothing in me to move my body. i couldn't yell or move an inch. i thnk i may have blinked a few times but that was it
after about sitting there for 3 minutes in totally silence i got the nerve to get up
i had some scissors sitting on my floor from Christmas wrapping. i grab them and held on for dear life
as soon as i reached the doorway to leave my room i heard the garage door go up
i booked it up the stairs and saw as the door was going up my dad pulling in
for a moment i thought it was him doing something outside and a waive a relief washed over me
and than it hit me that he was just barely pulling in, it happened over 3 minutes ago
as soon as he got out i asked him if he did anything outside and he said he just barely got there
great, i thought....
now i have to search the house
oh of course my dad wouldn't come do it so i held on to those scissor, went downstairs, and started searching
at last i came to my mom's old salon and found this:

now can you realize why i was so freaked out?

three doors falling over makes A LOT of noise.

do you get the music chills?

i sure do! all the time. some music just hits the spot and gives me a skin orgasm as this article says... eek, who knew?? (never thought i would write something like that on my blog)
you gotta read this article:
http://bodyodd.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2010/12/10/5619731-messiah-give-you-chills-thats-a-clue-to-your-personality?gt1=43001
i tend to get them on my scalp more than anywhere else.
i am curious if you all do too... let me know!

owls

i am having a tiny obsession with owls these days. they are super cute.
i found this blog called My Owl Barn where you can choose from a variety of cute original owl pictures to make your own 2011 calender. i did it and now have the cutest calender for my desk for this upcoming year! yay!

here is the link once more. enjoy!

slacker... but i am making up for it.

i am a slacker...

this what winter does to me. i am to cold to do anything! and blogging tends to fall at the bottom of the list to do. this week has been a crazy work week. i have had two early days (one extremely early) and it has thrown me all off. my body likes a set schedule M-F and than a not set schedule Sat/Sun. its just how i roll.

but i have been keeping up with my blogs and wanted to share one. you a fan of freebies like me? check out Benign Objects. they are having 25 days of freebies and giveaways. so far i have gotten me quite the collection of free printable gift tags. now i just need a printer to print them...hmm.

today has been a good day, which i am determined means it will be a great weekend. hopefully that means i can get all my Christmas shopping done. hope yours is wonderful!

11.26.2010

music & books!

i hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! i did. i am not a huge fan of the food (i wouldn't mind changing up the meal a bit) but i love being with my family, i love them and am so so grateful for them!
anyways... i have had this in my Post box forever and now it is time to actually post it!

Music:

Brooke Waggoner
Album: Heal for the Honey

Genre: Indie Pop / Folk
Reminds me of: Tegan & Sara meets Imogen Heap (than slowed down a bit)
Rating: MM1/2 (out of 5)
Top 3: Beaut / Live for the Sounds / ...
Favorite Lyrics: "I caught a glimpse of moon, shinning in the clearing of your eye"
i got some of Brooke's music off of Daytrotter and i loved it so i had to buy it. i decided to buy this album which is older but i love the Beaut song. i am sad to say i was a little disappointed. it actually is pretty good and the piano is wonderful but its too soft and slow for me. i can't get myself to quite grasp on to it. maybe you can though!

Telekinesis
Album: Telekinesis!

Genre: Indie Rock
Reminds me of: Phoenix
Rating: MMMM (out of 5)
Top 3: Coast of Carolina / Rust / Calling All Doctors
Favorite Lyrics: "Calling all doctors, quick come see. Somethings really wrong with little ol' me. Twitchin, twitchin, my heart his twitchin, twitchin."
The more I listen to this album the more and more I love it. like i said earlier it reminds me a lot of phoenix. its a one man bander who does pretty much everything. definitely worth listening too. if you don't like it right off try listening to it a couple more times...than you will!

Bonus:

Lydia
Album: Lydia

Genre: India Rock
Reminds me of:
Rating: MMMM (out of 5)
Top 3: Hospital, Fate, One More Day
Favorite Lyrics: "So you say that I've gone crazy, but I haven't gone crazy yet. I still have you."
i love this album and have for a while. this is a band from Arizona but i actually just read they broke up this year =(. sad. i will have to check out to see if they have more stuff out there. supposably one of the members has joined up with some members of Copeland and formed a new band. i will have to definitely check it out and let you know!

Books:

The Wedding
by Nicholas Sparks

Genre: Romantic Novel
Rating: MMMM (out of 5)
are you a Nicholas Sparks fan? if so you will love this one. it's a spin off of The Notebook. it is not a sequel but it is about Noah & Allie's daughter and her husband. most of Sparks books have a really sad part where a main person dies, blah blah blah, and i sometimes struggle with that. but there is none of that in this. it is a really good book and has some good lessons to be learned.
The Blackstone Chronicles
by John Saul

Genre: Horror/Suspense
Rating: MMMM (out of 5)
i haven't read very many horror books in my day but my friend/co-worker Bre told me i should read this. at first i wasn't quite sure...i was worried it was going to be to unrealistic. but i got hooked as i got going. it was very suspensful and it is not wise to read it at night when you are home alone =). i wasn't to sure about the ending though. it left me a little confused but definitely worth reading.

Book Club Book!!

The Giver
by Lois Lowry

Genre: Soft Science Fiction
Rating: MMMM1/2 (out of 5)
Bringing back memories of elementary school?? yep, not for me. a lot of people said they read this in elementary but i don't remember it at all. the cover looks familiar but i don't ever remember the story. i was very glad this book got chosen for book club this past month (thanks Keri!). the story is about a society that converted to 'Sameness'. nobody knows pain/emotions... everyone is the same. except for one person in the society who learns all about everything the world has know. it is a pretty good story. the end leaves you searching for more but all in all its a keeper.

Sara Bareilles!

last weekend i went and saw Sara Bareilles. it was a very good show. i went with my sister & Kate. we were all sickies that night so we were exhausted by the time it was over. a little to much standing for not feeling well. below are some pictures of the evening. one of the opening bands was The Carey Brothers (pictured below). i liked. Sara was very good...she is a good preformer and i just love her songs. her piano was blue by the way...i kind of wanted to take it home. and she played a hand held organ (pictured below)... i kind of wanted to take that home too. i had a video to post but for some reason it wouldn't work. just pictures today:

this weekend has offically become winter in Utah =(. snow is so beautiful and i enjoy snowboarding but i HATE winter.. i think i have been tainted living in Utah my whole life. i hate driving in it, i hate being cold, it all depresses me.. what are you thoughts on Winter??
how was all your weekends??
mine was busy but good. i got together with all my girlfriends from growing up on Friday night and we spent hours just talking with each other. i loved every second of it.
Saturday i painted a lot. my parents are remodeling some of there basement and one of the rooms is where i will be living so i have to help. paint is such a blast. but than i saw Harry Potter Saturday night... so good! Harry Popular (as my family likes to call him) rocks!!

bonfires, fireman, policeman, music, Will...

those words in the title describe my weekend... seriously.

i meant to post this at the begining of the week but the past few days i was on my death bed. oh man it sucked. i not only had my cold but i got a horrific migraine. its one thing to stay home from work when you are sick and you can watch tv, read books, update your blog. but when you have a major pain around your eye all you can do is lay there and close your eyes. it sucked.
congestions, pounding head, nausea, and body aches = a bad combo. blah

anyways, i feel a load better...now onto my weekend full of events!

so friday evening...haha oh friday evening. i went to hang out with some old friends and we had a bonfire. long story short we ended up going out to Willard bay area. they piled up couches and wood pallets. one after another. added a ton of gas and this is what it looked like:

yeah i know. crazy. it was the warmest fire i have ever been around. i thought my face was going to burn off and i was standing quite a ways away.
come to find out people in Plain City could see this so they got multiple calls of a fire. we are sitting out there while it is dying down, waiting to do our Sobe bomb, and the cops show up. the sherriff comes out with the fire department. we were on the county line so they had to call Box Elder county and there cops showed up with their fire department. i believe there was a total of 8 firetrucks, and about 6 cop cars. way more law enforcement than we had people! the fire department had to put out the fire, which is the first picture below and as you can tell it wasn't much of a fire by the time they got there. these were all taken on my phone so you can't get the full effect but it was crazy. who knew we could cause such a problem! the cops/fireman were extremely nice and just joking around with us the whole time (i think we made their evening...not much happens in that part of town). they even told us where to go so we wont get caught next time! nobody was drinking so no charges were made. it sure makes a good story though...as bad as it may sound, I was glad I was there =)

Saturday evening was the Cartel concert!! yay! it was so awesome! Cartel was amazing and they had some good openers.

(Anni, Heather, Maegan, Me, & Nat)

the first opening band wasn't good... I can't even remember there name.
than there was This Century:

The Ready Set:

You have probably all heard this song from The Ready Set: (they have very catchy music)

(i think i could watch there drummer all day...)

the headliners where Hey Monday. i am not a huge fan. we didn't end up staying for all of them.

but Cartel was wonderful. i seriously could sit and listen to them all night.

i actually started to get a little giddy when they were getting ready to perform.. i was only like 20 ft away from this man:

here are some video's. enjoy. the last one is their cover of New Found Glory.

Tonight I get to see Sara Bareilles!!

11.12.2010

old but new

these pictures are actually from a while ago but they are new to the blog =). the girls that i grew up with try to get together once a month for a girls night. some months it happens and some months it doesn't. but it beats our old 2 times a year trend! for our halloween get together we went to Heidi's and decorated cookies. it was a good time. Heidi has 2 of the cutest boys ever and they made it that much more fun.

(Heidi & Carter, Heather, Nikki, & Jaisha...love their faces)

for some reason i don't have any pictures with me and Lauren in them. sorry Lauren! but here is one of her little boy Treyden and Heidi's little one Carter. Carter loves new people and keep following Treyden around hugging him and kissing him...here he is in action:

and here he is with his beautiful mom!

i love my friends!

so its official... i am sick. blah. that is what i get for bragging to everyone that i haven't gotten a cold in 2 years. don't kiss and tell people (that is in no way or form saying i got sick because of kissing...fyi). and of course it comes at a crazy busy time. oh the joys of life.

i hope you all have a great weekend. i am going to watch things go up in flames this evening (literally) at a bonfire and than i am going to a concert tomorrow night. it will be an awesome weekend!

bathroom cabinets

the painting of the bathroom cabinets is complete...yeah! they turned out really nice. the pictures don't do justice, so just think of it like 10x better than the picture. we should be getting the blinds in shortly and than i just have a few random things i wanna do here and there. but so far it looks lovely!

this is the decoration on the back of my toliet... i just wanted to point out the small shells in front towards the right side that have the purplish tint to them are originally from the Caribbean.. yep ladies and gents you heard that right...they are originals!

11.08.2010

twins & fall

check out the resemblance:
(i love it)
...
this weekend in Utah was wonderful! it was what fall should be about... until Sunday evening. and now today is ugly...ugly,ugly,ugly. me and my co-worker Lindsay decided it is the kind of weather that makes you want to puck, cry, and curl in a ball. all at the same time. (can you tell I am not a winter fan??)
any ways me & Kate decided to take advantage of this wonderful weekend weather and spent Saturday evening walking around Gateway. we spent a lot of the time in Anthropology drooling over everything. last night i had a dream i went back to get this awesome notebook/journal and i got an amazing deal on it. it was a wonderful dream.

all these pictures were taken on my phone. so proves another reason as to why i need an iphone. i need a phone with a better camera.
...
below are some pretty pictures of the fall season around my house. fall colors are the best!

11.07.2010

what are you thankful for?

check out this video the LDS Church has put out. i love it. i love this time of year and i am so thankful for all the many many blessings i have in life. especially the church and my family.

enjoy!

11.05.2010

next weekend...

have i mentioned i get to see these guys next weekend?

well i do...

if Will (lead singer) asks me to marry him that night i will probably be a married woman by Sunday morning... just saying...

11.04.2010

marriage

i really want to get married...

ok i lied...

i really want to plan a wedding...

i think i was meant to be a wedding planner. i love love weddings and all the little things that go with it. i love themed weddings. i think Utah could use a little help in their wedding plans... seriously, it is one of the best reason to celebrate two people...and i think a wedding style should portray those two people and be a party at the same time. if only we had all the money in the world to make it perfect that way, right?!

my friend Kate wants to open a bridal shop and i want to be a wedding planner in the bridal shop. such a wonderful plan isn't it??

i think i would need to wait till i actually get married before i plan others though. i am pretty sure i would just blub like crazy seeing all that lovey dovey stuff without having it myself. ya catch my drift?

i am just warning you. when i get married it is going to be one NARLY wedding!

check out my inspiration for this post on this website.

hALlOwEeN 2010!!

oh goodness... i am finally getting around to posting this. work has been busy and by the time i get home i really don't want to look at a computer. so now i am finally getting a chance to post about my halloween...one of the best holidays of the year!
first you gotta start out with some pumpkin carving. and choking your nephews in the mix. look at me, chillin with the boys. i am pretty sure i am the coolest Aunt EVER! i kind of don't understand why they don't follow me around like sad puppy... i have never been able to find out how to make boys do that... anyways. here is the pumpkins we carved. mine is a haunted house... i know i know, it looks nothing like one. wasn't my best work. when it is lit it just looks like a bunch of squares and circles (see below)...at least i know my shapes. and ofcourse my dad had to throw little Mia into the mix and get her cute pumpkin butt. funny thing...she hated it! but my dad put her in that position and she just sat there and cried...didn't move an inch. it was hilarious. (if you look closely enough you can see her crying face)

after pumpkin carving came the making of the dead man. just the boys participated in this one and than they got the picture below.

at FHE (family home evening) for my singles ward we carved/painted pumpkins. i chose to paint and it turned out pretty good for the tools i had to work with. i was so excited that i went out and bought fake spiders to put all over it and than i came outside one day and the white had washed all away. turns out it was washable paint... grr i was mad.
ok you ready for my costume... hehe
The Beach Troll:
i think it turned out pretty good...what do you think? it sure was a lot of work for only about 4 hours of wearing. i may have to be it again next year. on friday evening we had a little party at heathers house. we had an awesome dance room...including a strobe light :)

(above is some of the gang: some kid..i don't remember his name, Kelsey, Me, Meredith,
Anni & Heather)
saturday evening i had every intention of going down to Salt Lake even though i had no desire to be social again. but than everyone started bailing and people got sick and there wasn't anything left to do. me and heather went to a movie.. awesome way to spend a Halloween huh?
but earlier in the evening i got to see my cute kids all dressed up.
The CUTEST Strawberry:
The dead Motorcross rider & Avatar (Jake to be exact) & and the evil Spiderman with massive muscles:

(Maegan & the cute Strawberry!)

i hope you all had a Happy Halloween! i love seeing everyones post with their costumes. now its onto November and this month is looking crazy as every. the middle week of the month i have something every single day... serious. they are good things such as the Sara Bareilles concert, Harry Potter, and seeing lots of friends. but it will be crazy. I will have a ton of posts.
