Music & Book Update

I totally just realized that it has been 2 months since i have last done this. i try to do it monthly but as most of you know...summer is crazy!! so anyways its time for my favorite time...

Music:

New Young Pony Club - The Optimist
so my friend Lindsay that i work with introduced me to these wonderful people. they are definitely not american but i am not sure what they are...some kind of european band. their music is very poppy and just makes you wanna dance. check out their music video's on You Tube...you will laugh at their styles. my favorite songs are Lost a Girl, We Want To, & Oh Cherie.

Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles (II)
remember a few months ago when i mentioned i was going out on a limb with a album that was a little weird? well here they are again! i love it...what can i say. i have to listen to Crystal Castles when i run...it makes me feel like i am alive =) if you You Tube any of the music videos do not judge the music by the video's...they are kind of crazy. but i guess the music is too. oh well.. my favorite songs on this are Pap Smear (i know, weird song name) & Baptism.

Cartel - Cycles
Cartel has always been one of my favorite bands. the singer...Will...has an amazing voice. i would marry him for his voice...his looks aren't to bad either, actually they are amazing also =). this album definitely isn't my favorite but it's growing on me. my favorite songs are Deep South & 27 Steps. The Perfect Mistake is also a good one, you have probably heard it if you listen to the radio at all. Will looks so much like my ex in the music video...weird.

Books

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephanie Meyer
most of you Twilight fans have probably already read this right? if you haven't you should. i really really enjoyed it. it makes you seriously love Bree. its kind of hard reading it because you know the outcome from the Eclipse book...but the whole time you are wishing it will end different. stephanie meyer is a wonderful writer.

City of Ashes/City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
these are the 2nd & 3rd books to the City of Bones series. i love these books. the second was a little harder for me to get into but the 3rd was really really good and it ended so wonderful...i like that. i mentioned in my last post that these are about shadowhunters, demons, vampires, werewolves...the whole works. its a whole different world but definitely one to explore.

Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen
ok, old book i know! i have always wanted to read the Jane Austen books especially after i watched the movie Jane Austen Book Club. so i bought them all. this was the first one. I am not going to lie, they were very difficult to get through. i struggle with that style of writing. i was definitely meant to be born in this day and age. I could never image dating like that either. having to be so formal with everything...eww. not me. but anyways the book itself was really good, i probably didn't get the full effect of it cause i didn't know what a lot of the stuff meant! but i will read the others...maybe a while but i will.

and last but not least...MockingJay by Suzanne Collins comes out the 24th. wahoo! I am so freakin excited. are you a fan?
Go Team Gale!

Cheese

smile big for the camera...
friday the 13th was maegan's b-day. she turned 27..aahh! that night we went to the Union Grill for dinner. it is so so good. i love their tortellini, it's amazing. my dad suggested we take a picture of maeg on her birthday...these are the results...

Last monday me and maegan took pake & garet to Lagoon. it was definitely what fun is. those boys are so funny. pake has only been once and garet has never been so it was great to see their faces on the rides..they weren't so sure about some. =)

i love getting shots like this:

and last but not least...this is my tribute to Sooner. my dad sold this wonderful dog the other day. i am not going to lie, i am pretty sad about it. i never took care of the dog much but he was so good. so obeying, and we all really loved him. i was so surprised when my dad said he was going to sell him. he got a new dog that kind of replaced him. =( we miss ya Sooner!

the temper trap

ok. i am slowly but surely catching up on my posts..
like i mentioned earlier i went to The Temper Trap concert on wednesday evening. it was really good. my sister is the one who told me about this band so with tomorrow being her birthday i brought her along with me for a good birthday present (i am such a nice sister huh?!) i didn't have my camera so these pictures are from my phone. they are very crappy.. i apologize. but it helped me post them faster cause i didn't have to load them from my camera, thats a plus. but this is them (if you can tell).. as i mentioned before they are Australian. the singer (who is the one that talked the most) did not have a strong accent which thoroughly disappointed me...grr.

the opening band was called Butterfly Bones. they were a very extreme electronic/dance band. they had some pretty awesome beats and pretty entertaining to watch. my sister doesn't do very well with electronic music so she got to a point where she wasn't sure she could listen anymore... so don't check them out if you can't handle it!

awww...how i love a good show. next months show is Phoenix..as Usher would say..Yeah! (still haven't found a date to take...any ideas??)

Forgiveness

i strongly encourage you to watch this if you haven't. but be prepared to cry..
it makes me so happy to know that even though the world is full of nasty things there a lot of amazing people out there.

Until than I wanted to share with you the highlight of my upcoming week. I am going to The Temper Trap concert on Weds...here is a video (oh by the way they are Australian.. I not only get to here some good music, but some good accents =) )

PS... I keep getting really random comments from people that are just chinese characters, anyone out there has this same problem?? I have NO idea what they say and don't know why I keep getting them!

Enjoy Life

Don't I have the most beautiful friends?? I agree!
My friend Jaisha got married a couple weeks ago. It was one of the most beautiful weddings I have been to..I loved it. They are the cutest couple! Me, Heidi, and Nikki where buddies all day for the ceremony and reception, the picture above is us enjoy the festivities. I love these girls and congrats Jaisha!

Check out my nephews mullet:
It rocks! Unfortunately they didn't keep it long but it was so cute. His hair had been getting long and would stick out in the back sometimes so we started calling him 'duck tails'. my mom couldn't resist leaving it on there when she cut it...

I guess I should mention how my blind date with the cowboy went since I never got back to you on that huh?? The most I can say is that it was ok =). He was nice but when all a boy can do is talk about themselves I get a little turned off... We got a long well enough considering we are complete opposites. There has been talk of a possible second date but I am not doing much to encourage it... dating SUCKS! You lucky married people...

I think that is going to be all for this post... I have a lot things going on that I will get posted but I have my big Super Summer Activity for my singles ward coming up so it may be a while before I get to it.. so until than: Enjoy Life!

24 hours

24 hours in day is not enough...especially in the summer time. When you spend 9 hours of it working and 8 hours sleeping, that leaves you 7 hours, which 1-2 hours is getting ready for the day! I can't wait till the day I do not have to work a full time job and I can spend my days doing projects, discovering new things, updating my blog, working out, and getting enough sleep so I don't fall asleep while I am driving... Oh that day will be glorious!

p.s. I have a blind date with a cowboy tomorrow night. Curious to how that will turn out? Ya, me too. I will let you know.

I am in need of an old Kitchen Cabinet..

Does anyone know of anyone who is building or remodeling their kitchen and has some old cabinets they are wanting to get rid of? I am in need of one for a project. I am looking for a size of about 20"x 30"...give or take a few inches. Please let me know if you know of anyone...I will take them off their hands for free or I am willing to pay. Either leave me a comment or text/call 801-391-5263.

Don't really know what to call this one...

Oh man! Life has been Carazy!! So pretty much this will be another long blog post...Feel free not to read it all. My goal is to make a blog Journal since I have been so horrible at writing in my normal one. So I am going to put lots of stuff up on my blog. Onto my life as a single 25 year old (that is so weird!)

First off, we got to mention Eclipse! I do have to say I very much so enjoyed this movie. It is so much better than the first two. I could actually stand to look at Edward some of the time and not cringe... Just some of the time =) The acting is a lot better in this one and the filming is really good. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it felt very rushed. The 3rd book is so full of stories of the Character's past and they only touched on them briefly. Those are my favorite parts of the book so that made me a little sad it didn't go into detail. I guess if they had done that the movie would've been mega long... but I am sure no Twilight fan would mine!
We were extremely lucky and actually got to see it the day before it came out. It was so nice...our movie started @ 5p so there was no waiting up all night and I got to brag to those who are obsessed enough to go to the midnight showing! We got the tickets through someone who knew my sister-in-law Kari's family. So after the movie me & my mom went with Kari and her sisters to dinner @ Union Grill (one of my favorite places.)

Next on to my Birthday. I am freakin 25 years old!! How weird is that? So my Birthday was on the 28th of June. I took the day off from work...I think they should give everyone 8 hours of birthday leave a year...what do you think? Me and my sister Maegan went and spent the day at . Oh what fun it was! This old age is creepin up on me though...I can't ride those rides like I use to. I tend to get a little sick quite often! It was fun though. Mondays are a great day to go...not to crowded.
I felt really spoiled on my Birthday this year. It was definitely a good one. That night my parents and sister took me to Lee's Mongolian. I love that place!! You should definitely try it if you haven't. I also got some rad presents, I am so spoiled! My parents gave me a gift certificate for a massage, I can not wait to get it! I have wanted one for years. My sister gave me the cutest new Yoga mat. I can't wait to use it. My friends Heather & Kate gave me 2 tickets to see Phoenix in concert in September!! What an awesome gift. I had no idea and it was a great suprise! The only thing is...I have to bring a date with that 2nd ticket. Hmm...the rate I am going with my dating life may produce a problem. Wish me luck on finding someone in the next few months =). I also got many gift cards and other little presents from friends and family. I definitely have the best friends and family ever!! My friends took me to dinner last night too for the special day. We went to Bistro 258 on 25th street. Mmm mmm good. You gotta try it out!

On June 26th we had an awesome Fiesta for my friend Juan who got home from his mission on the 24th. I do have to say we threw a great party! I kind of forgot to get a lot of pictures so the ones I do have aren't the best. We decorated Heather's back yard with all kinds of lights, we had a Pinata, Spanish music, and awesome awesome food. It's great to have Juan back...he is such an awesome kid. Below is some pictures of Heather's yard and some participants in the Fiesta. (it looked so much cooler in the dark) Check out the basketball hoop area...we made it into a dance floor:

June 24-26 my family had their awesome Annual Camping Trip. This year we went up to Brownie Lake up in the Uintas. It was a lot of fun this year. Probably the best one to date. Unfortunately Kari and baby Mia weren't there but everyone else was and we made a lot of good memories. Below is a picture of the lake...it was pretty up there:

We (well I should say Pake) did a lot of fishing. We were always teasing him saying he caught all the fish in the lake... cause he did catch a lot! This one below was probably the biggest one he got. I didn't fish but I did go for a ride on the new fishing boat. I got to see a cute little beaver swimming in the water. Besides chipmunks and fish, that was about the extent to the wildlife I saw.

We brought up the four wheeler which is always a lot of fun... Isn't this a cool motion shot?! I love how clear their legs are and the background is so blurry. I wish Pake wasn't out of the picture though!

Maegan with the cutest boys ever making their funny faces.

Some pictures on the lake:

Pake being funny: (and he is)

Good times with the family. I love love love being an Aunt. I don't think their is anything better. People say motherhood is but not so sure. I am pretty content just being an Aunt =). Anyways, it was a good camping trip full of memories of silly things the boys said, seeing all the times Emett cried, and almost beheading myself.. Wonderful!!

Ok this next post is a Silly one! A couple weeks ago me and my friend Kate had a Burning Ceremony. It may be a silly post but it was a serious thing.... =) seriously. Ok, so you are wondering what this Burning Ceremony is right? Well it is a time where we build a fire and burn all the stuff girls keep when they are dating someone. (We have since broken-up with that someone ofcourse). It is a cleansing process and it worked pretty good. My stuff I burned was actually quite old and I have been over it(him I should say) for a while (not as long as I wish though...long long process) but it is a really good cleansing process and a good thing to do for yourself. Unfortantely Kate forgot her box of stuff so another one will be happening soon.
Below is Kate working on getting the fire going. For to girls who never makes fires we made one bad A fire!

This would be me burning:

My sad face...I am not going to lie it was hard to burn those things... so many memories:

My cleansed face!:

This is kind of an awkward picture to post but I love Kate's shirt. A Love shirt at a Burning Ceremony?? Come on girl =)

That is it for now... on to the next week of Adventures!!
